MERCURY

Size: 1000 mirrored
Typology: Artistic Installation
Client: The CITsphees
Status: Completed in 2015

Mercury is an installation in the penthouses at South Bank Tower which serves as a bridge between people and the city – a dialogue between the unadorned penthouse and it's visitors.  The colossal quality of the space, coupled with the aerial views of the London skyline, capture the ever-changing atmosphere of our metropolis.

Assembled from over 1000 mirrored spheres, the installation is arranged like a spine of frozen mercury droplets hanging in mid-air. The spheres reflect and refract one another, simultaneously creating and dissolving form and space. The backdrop of London is reflected into dynamic suspension, multiplied by every single mirrored sphere, generating an infinite space that encapsulates the heartbeat of London.

The installation portrays another form of reality, constantly collaging the penthouse space and the city itself; creating illusions and transforming the South Bank Tower into a unique setting to experience London from the sky.
